Collinsville police are investigating a Sunday shooting that left one man in the hospital with a leg wound.

According to a press release sent out by the Collinsville Police Department Jan. 28, an apartment resident called 911 reporting that her boyfriend was trying to kick in the door, following a fight between the couple in Brooklyn earlier that morning. Following the initial fight, he allegedly came back to their apartment in the 50 block of Bellevue, found the caller with her ex-boyfriend and a fight ensued.

Although both the caller's boyfriend and another man involved in the dispute had left the scene when police arrived, officers returned an hour later after receiving a call from a local hospital about a man who had been shot in Collinsville. According to the release, police determined the patient was the caller's boyfriend. He was being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police questioned the girlfriend, searched the apartment and found a gun that is thought to have been used in the shooting.

Investigators are still trying to locate the other man who was allegedly involved in the dispute, Colby Adams, 28, of Cahokia. Adams has not been charged with a crime and is only wanted to questioning, according to the press release.

Anyone with information about Adams, his whereabouts or other information about the incident is asked to contact the Collinsville Police Department at 618-344-2131.
