SMALL BUSINESS
• Rain Tunnel Express, a car wash chain that originated in Granite City, opened a new location in Pontoon Beach at 4192 Illinois Route 162. The company operates six locations in the St. Louis metropolitan area and has 60 employees.
• SERVPRO, a disaster recovery and restoration franchise company in Granite City and Edwardsville, was ranked fourth on Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 List. SERVPRO specializes in fire and water cleanup, restoration and repair services to residential and commercial costumers.
LAW ENFORCEMENT
Several members of area law enforcement were recognized at the Southwestern Illinois Law Enforcement Commission and Southern Illinois Police Chiefs' Association awards banquet last month.
United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois Stephen Wigginton and retired Law Enforcement Coordinator for the U.S. Attorney's Office Southern District of Illinois Ronald Shownes received the Olympian Award. Granite City Mayor Ed Hagnauer received the Laxon Public Service Award.
The Telecommunicator Award was presented to Jason Thatcher and Edward Hoover of the Madison County Sherrif's Department. Sgt. Darin Trent of the Madison County Sheriff's Department was a recipient of the Life Saving Award.
The new board of officers was also introduced. They include President Robert Rizza of the Troy Police Department; Vice President Richard Miller of the Granite City Police Department; Treasurer Terry Bell of the Highland City Police Department; and Secretary David Hayes of the Alton Police Department.
