The Southwestern Madison County Chamber of Commerce presented its first "What's Right, Right Here," luncheon this month. Gateway Regional Medical Center's Auxiliary and Volunteer programs and the Tri-Cities Area United Way were both given Community Service awards.

Gateway Regional Auxiliary was recognized for decades of volunteer service, fundraisers, and more than $200,000 in scholarships awarded to students studying medicine. The volunteer department at Gateway Regional has donated more than 2.5 million hours to the Gateway Regional. More than 150 adult volunteers and 45 junior volunteers donate more than 50,000 hours annually.

The Tri-Cities Area United Way was acknowledged for the millions of dollars the organization has raised for more than 20 years. They currently fund 19 area health and human service agencies.

Also presented at the luncheon was the Extraordinary Acts of Kindness award, which was given to Nancy LeVault and Kathy Goclan. LeVault, director of elementary education and Title 1 for Granite City School District School District, and Goclan, owner of American Family Insurance Co., spearhead the chamber's annual Christmas Party, which raises funds and donations to provide Christmas gifts to nearly 150 needy area children.

The Ambassador of the Year award went to Tom Cholevik. Out of the 15 members of the Ambassadors Committee, Tom has given the most hours attending Business After Hours, ribbon cuttings and other Chamber functions.
