Obama is an honorable president
With full knowledge that this is a futile effort I'd like to respond to the column published on Feb. 1. It asked questions of folks who had voted for Barack Hussein Obama.
I voted for him and most likely will do so again, my choice will have nothing to do with the price of gasoline. I saw in Obama intelligence and intellect on top of honorable characteristics that I had not seen in a candidate or president for decades. I thought him to be a man I would not be ashamed of as president. He is a rare human being in my perception. Imagine putting the environment and safety above profits. Imagine constantly dealing with obstructionist Republicans whose primary goal is not what is best for the country but is what is best for the GOP and their interest.
The president seems to be a man of great strength and sense of purpose who is less guided by greed and lust for power than his predecessors. I doubt he has the power or influence needed to reduce the price of gas as Bush/Cheney most likely did.
While the price of gasoline has doubled, it is still less than the $4+ under Bush/Chaney. If drilling had not been curtailed off-shore or in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the pipeline allowed would the price of gas decrease? Not necessarily according to the talking heads I've heard from. Is the truth important to you?
Yes there has been disappointment in Obama but not the disgrace of the Bush/Cheney administration. If I had been able to go back to where my family came from I'd have left long before Obama went into office before Bush started his second term whether it was England, Scotland or The Netherlands.
