The Granite City school board last week awarded an $85,000 contract to Rooters Asphault to add a 40-lot parking lot at Grigsy Middle School.

Construction probably will begin in the spring, Principal Kristen Novacich said.

Faculty members will park in the lot, freeing up the main lot for others, Novacich said.

The money for the parking lot comes from the district's $6 million working cash fund bond for construction approved by the school board last year.
