Uttara Chakraborty, a home-schooled high school junior, won first place at the Academy of Science-St. Louis Honors Division Science Fair Feb. 4. Chakraborty, a Chesterfield resident, qualified to represent St. Louis at the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair.
Her project was based on her research on fuel cells. For finishing first, she won a $3,000 scholarship and an all-expenses-paid trip to the Intel fair in May in Pittsburgh.
Chakraborty attended Parkway schools from first through ninth grade, and now studies at home and takes advanced courses at local universities.
