Kirkwood School Superintendent Tom Williams is backing the appointment of Michael Romay as chief financial officer.

Williams will recommend Romay to the Kirkwood School District Board of Education at its Feb. 6 meeting.

Romay has served as the interim CFO since the beginning of the school year and the district's director of accounting since 2001.

Romay succeeds Mike Havener, who was named the principal of Kirkwood High School for the 2011-12 school year.

Before joining the Kirkwood School District, Mike worked for Schowalter & Jabouri, PC, as an auditor and tax preparer.

During that time, he performed the audit of the Kirkwood School District each year as well as audits for other area school districts.
