Kirkwood High School's track will be renamed the "Alvin Miller Track" at a dedication on Wednesday, May 9, at the 25th annual Kirkwood Elementary School Track Meet.

The Kirkwood School District Foundation is hosting the official ceremony that will start at 5 p.m. at Kirkwood High School, 801 W, Essex Ave.

Regarded as the best athlete in school history, Miller, a 1983 Kirkwood High graduate, earned four varsity letters in basketball, three in football and two in track and field.

Miller still holds the Kirkwood High School Track records in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 110 high hurdles and continues to be a leader in the community and a mentor to student athletes, officials said.

In case of inclement weather, attendees can call (314) 213-6116 to check whether the meet has been cancelled.
