Hamid R. Hamrah, a candidate for the Kirkwood School District Board of Education on the April 3 ballot, has withdrawn from the contest.

That will be among items discussed during a candidate forum to be conducted by the St. Louis League of Women Voters from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, in the cafeteria at North Kirkwood Middle School, 11287 Manchester Road.

On Feb. 16, the district received a statement from Hamrah saying that, due to an unexpected increase in his business commitments, he felt it would be in the best interest of the district for him to withdraw his candidacy. At this late date, the ballot will not be changed to reflect Hamrah's decision, officials said.

The ballot will include candidates Andy Stewart, Hamrah, Scott Anderson and Sara King for two three-year posts available on the ballot.
