North Kirkwood Middle School eighth-graders Emma Sward, Drew Wagner and Nathan Waller were named winners in the 2011 Show-Me a Movie Digital Storytelling Contest in the "Show-Me Something New" category.

The contest, sponsored by Cooperating School Districts, encouraged Missouri students to demonstrate their creativity and digital moviemaking skills by creating movies that showcase what they know, care about and are able to do.

The Show-Me Something New category had students make an instructional video. The North Kirkwood students submitted a two-minute zombie make-up techniques video that demonstrated the process of applying a zombie scar on a face. Emma served as narrator and make-up artist, Nathan was the model in the video and Drew was the videographer.

Movies were based on curriculum and content focus and were judged by representatives from area schools. The judges reviewed the content, creativity and videography.

The movie will be showcased Feb. 13-15 at the Midwest Education Technology Conference at the St. Charles Convention Center.۬
