Lindbergh Eager Achievers Program teacher Therese Waldschmidt was honored at the Affton Chamber of Commerce’s annual Exceptional Educators banquet in March.

Waldschmidt has been teaching in the Lindbergh School District for 24 years. She also serves as LEAP testing coordinator for Lindbergh schools.

She teaches a variety of subjects to gifted students, including robotics, oceanography and backyard science. Waldschmidt uses a hands-on approach in her lessons, as her students dissect fish and squid, draw whales to scale and compare sand samples from around the world.

Waldschmidt also teaches a class called “Go Green,” which builds recycling and global awareness. She developed a total school recycling project with students to minimize trash and emphasize recycling, reusing and composting.
