Registration is now under way for Jefferson College's annual Viking Band Camp, to be held July 11-15.
The camp provides students in grades four through eight with musical instruction and performance opportunities. The weeklong camp will be on the Jefferson College Hillsboro campus, concluding with a concert on Friday evening in the College's Fine Arts Theatre.
Registration will remain open through July 1.
The band camp consists of group and sectional instruction. Sections include Beginner Band — less than one year ensemble experience — and Junior High/Middle School Band — more than one year completed.
Students can choose from commuter or on-campus attendance options. The cost for commuter campers is $140 per student and includes master classes, instruction, basic music education classes, daily lunches, recreation, a T-shirt, the concert and a group photo on the website. The on-campus cost is $250 per student, which covers everything included with the commuter option plus four nights lodging in the Viking Woods housing complex and all meals.
