Registration is now underway for Jefferson College's annual Viking Band Camp, to be held July 11-15.

The camp provides middle school and junior high school students in grades four through eight with musical instruction and performance opportunities. The week-long camp will be held on the Jefferson College Hillsboro campus, concluding with a concert on Friday evening in the College's Fine Arts Theatre.

Registration will remain open through July 1. It is organized by Jefferson College adjunct music instructor Joe Pappas.

The band camp consists of group and sectional instruction. Sections include Beginner Band — less than one year ensemble experience — and Junior High/Middle School Band — more than one year completed.

Students can choose from commuter or on-campus attendance options. The cost for commuter campers is $140 per student and includes master classes, instruction, basic music education classes, daily lunch, recreation, T-shirt, concert and a group photo on the website. The on-campus cost is $250 per student, which includes all the benefits of the commuter option plus four nights lodging in the Viking Woods housing complex and all meals.

For complete registration information, contact Theatre Manager Laura Adams at 636-797-3000, ext. 369, or ladams2@jeffco.edu, or visit www.jeffco.edu and click on the "Jefferson College Viking Band Camp" link under the Community heading.
