Eight families were chosen as winners in eight different categories for the annual Sunset Hills Christmas Lighting Contest.

Sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department, the contest had a committee of judges travel throughout the city during the holidays, choosing the winners.

They are the Volansky family for "Reason for the Season," the Wagner family for "Post Card," the Risner family for "Joy to the World," the Brennan family for "Spirit of Christmas," the Dolle family for "Classic Christmas," the Starnes family for "Traffic Stopper," the Nguyen family for "Blue Christmas" and the Squitieri family for "Winter Wonderland."

The winners received a $25 gift card and a Christmas tree ornament with their name, the year and the winning category.
