Creve Coeur to have Citizen Police Academy

The Creve Coeur Police Department is accepting applications for its free Citizen Police Academy set to start March 6. Classes will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays through May 1 at various locations.

The academy is meant to educate residents about the criminal justice system and provide insight into everyday police work. Academy instructors are police officers from Creve Coeur, Des Peres, Frontenac, Olivette and Town and Country.

Several areas of police training are covered in the program including constitutional and criminal law, use of force, investigations, traffic safety, pursuits and firearm training. Participants will role play with instructors and participate in a ride-along.

Applications may be completed online at www.creve-coeur.org/ citizenpoliceacademy. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. A background check will be completed on all applicants.
