The Glendale Fire and Police Departments will host their fourth free Community Emergency Response Team training sessions beginning Tuesday, March 13.
CERT classes will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. March 13, 15, 20 and 22, with a practical exercise from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Glendale City Hall Auditorium, 424 N. Sappington Road.
The CERT program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Trained CERT members can assist others when professional responders are not immediately available. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
Classes are taught by Glendale Fire and Police personnel who have received training in disaster preparedness.
