Missouri State Auditor Tom Schweich will deliver the results of the Monarch Fire Protection District audit during a public meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 15, in Chesterfield.
The meeting is set for 6 p.m. at district headquarters, 13725 Olive Blvd.
Schweich will present the complete report and take questions about the audit, requested by Gov. Jay Nixon because of various allegations surrounding the district.
Monarch board president Kim Evans said she sought assistance from the auditor's office because she believed the district had incurred "an inordinate amount of legal fees compared to all other fire districts in the region." Evans also has said she has witnessed mismanagement in various aspects of the overall budget and seen wasteful spending during her years on the board.
Monarch covers all or parts of Chesterfield, Clarkson Valley, Wildwood, Maryland Heights, Creve Coeur, Ballwin and unincorporated West County.
