Light bulbs should be made here
The government is forcing everybody in America to buy new light bulbs. They closed down the light bulb companies in America. The new light bulbs are made in China. I think it would be a much better idea if the new light bulbs were made here in America for Americans and American jobs and the income tax we would pay.
Channel 4 messes up location
Another in a series of blunders for KMOV Channel 4 news. St. Mary's Health Center and hospital complex are not in Clayton, Missouri as Lori Waters supposedly was reporting from. She was standing in front of the iron gate. That means she was on the south side of Clayton Road, and the border runs right down the middle of Clayton Road. That means she was in Richmond Heights, not Clayton. Channel 4 needs new producers. They have too many screw-ups. It's like they don't have good attention to detail.
Try being a house cleaner
I would like to comment on the housekeeper here. I do pay taxes. I have my own cleaning service. I've been cleaning for 22 years. I'm registered with IRS and the state of Missouri. I pay estimated taxes every three months and I do not charge by the hour because when you try to clean by the hour, people are watching their clocks to hurry and rush you through the job. I try to do a thorough job of cleaning, and I would like to challenge this person to go into somebody's home and clean and see what house cleaners have to put up with.
Plastic bags hurt environment
The daughter of the man who invented the plastic bag travels the world, urging people to stop their usage because they are so harmful to the environment. Plastic bags are not biodegradable, therefore never completely break down. It is said there is more plastic in the ocean now than there is plankton. That means we eat fish who eat plastic. If this doesn't bother you, maybe you care about gasoline prices. It takes billions of barrels of oil to produce plastic bags, thus driving up the gas prices at the pump. Come on, St. Louis, let's be smart. Bring your own reusable bag.
Thieves don't care about others
To the person or persons who stole my son's large, heavy cement item from in front of our garage and to the thief who stole my gift of a cute mailbox cover, I'm sure you all had a nice Christmas with all the stolen things. I hope you suffer some sort of misery for your lack of conscience and enjoyment thinking of our sorrow. What has happened to our world that people can steal so blatantly whatever they want?
Oil firms should make another fuel
I wonder why these oil companies don't come up with an alternative fuel and corner the market on it. They were talking the other day about how Iran might block off the Strait of Hormuz, and gasoline might be $5 a gallon this summer. If an individual comes up with an alternative fuel in the garage or in the basement, the oil companies are going to buy him out. We've all got to suffer when Iran is going to do something like block off the Strait of Hormuz. and here we are going to go back into a recession if they do that. We may have massive layoffs again. I don't understand why oil companies don't come up with their own alternate fuel so Iran doesn't have us over a barrel.
Thanks for Christmas decorations
Kudos to those who made a special effort to decorate for Christmas — stores and restaurants, too. We all need to make an effort to keep our country's customs as we've known them.
Doesn't want to hear about God
I have decided that if someone chooses to keep throwing God into their conversation, I absolutely will not trust that person.
Fair trade
People complain when merchandise they buy includes a tag, "Made in China," or any other country. People in China may complain when merchandise they buy has a tag applied, "Made in America." We have a fair trade agreement with these countries and, hopefully, there is an equal balance.
Trust God to help with your health
Start speaking in words, not sentences and chapters. I'm tired of asking someone, "How are you feeling?" And instead of saying two or three words, they start talking in chapters. Everything about their health: where they went to the doctor, what kind of medicine they're taking, how they think they're going to die. Learn how to say, "Fine, thank you." I told that to an acquaintance of mine and she said, "Well, if I said 'fine,' then God would know I'm lying." God would appreciate it if you would have faith in him and say, "Fine, thank you," and then trust the Lord to help you. Look up the word "hypochondriac" and ask yourself: Does that name fit you?
Help your kids lose weight
We all wish that parents of children who are so overweight would make a resolution to do something about your children's weight. If you, the parents, are overweight, don't expect your children to look like you look. If you don't take care of yourself, that's your fault. But you are responsible for your children, especially your girls. People are very cruel when girls get to be teenagers and they're overweight. Do something about it now before they become teenagers. Either you have to cook differently or send them somewhere where they can exercise and lose weight. Maybe make them walk instead of taking the bus.
Should've bought insurance
It's been a year since a tornado touched down in Sunset Hills and Lewis Place in north St. Louis. Sunset Hills is moving on, while Lewis Place is waiting for money from the government. To the people at Lewis Place, you should have had homeowner's insurance. It's like driving a car with no insurance. Then your car gets damaged and you want to run to city hall for help. It doesn't work like that. If you're place is damaged, move out. No insurance, no help.
Rams should throw more
Is it any wonder that the Rams football team had a terrible season? When you watch them play, it's the same play over and over. The running game, constantly giving the ball to Jackson. Here's an idea for next season: Throw the ball. You watch other teams play, and they're throwing the football 30 to 50 yards downfield and winning games. The Rams are an embarrassment to St. Louis. They want to move to L.A.? I'm all for it.
Dark lettuce is healthier
Let us think of terms of dark green lettuce. I wish restaurants would start using more dark green lettuce instead of light lettuce in their salads. Everyone should study the number of vitamins and extra help the dark lettuce has instead of iceberg lettuce. Salads are meant to be healthy. Hooray for those places that serve dark green lettuce. Too much iceberg lettuce. Look up the nutritional values. It's for your benefit.
Stuffy folks
What a laugh about the "C and Es" going to church on Christmas and Easter. I know some of them myself. The main reason they don't go the other 50 Sundays is because people like the person that called in have their nose so far up in the air they can't see the pasture because their nose is shading them.
