John "Jack" Barry

John F. "Jack" Barry of Eureka, Mo., died Feb. 28, 2007, in Creve Coeur, Mo. He was 77.

Mr. Barry was a truck driver for a brewery. He was born Dec. 14, 1929, in St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Barry is survived by his wife, Ruth A. (Kreienkamp) Barry; sister, Patricia Lane; and other relatives.

The funeral was March 3 at the Schrader Chapel in Ballwin, with interment at Bethel Cemetery in Wildwood.

Roland "Bart" Bartnett

Roland R. "Bart" "Speedy" Bartnett of west St. Louis County, Mo., died March 5, 2007. He was 80.

Mr. Bartnett was a sheet metal worker. He was born Aug. 30, 1926, in St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Bartnett is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. "Dot" (Mersinger) Bartnett; son, Richard (Katie Dean) Bartnett; daughter, Victoria (Stephen) Fleddermann; brothers, John C. "Jack" (Sally) Bartnett, Raymond (Joan) Bartnett and Charles (Virginia) Bartnett; sisters, Patricia (Charles) Knott and Karen Trask (Ralph) Tyson; and sisters-in-law, Marian (the late Clem) Jansen and Arlene (Frank) Vien.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn (the late George) Neumeister, and brother, David (Beverly) Bartnett.

The funeral was March 8 at St. Monica Catholic Church, with interment at Resurrection Cemetery in south St. Louis County, Mo.

Peter Hill Brown

Peter Hill Brown of Kirkwood, Mo., died Jan. 30, 2007. He was 64.

Mr. Brown was an assistant vice president of Safeco Surety for 36 years and executive vice president of North American Bond Claim Services.

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Jacqueline (Traum) Brown; two children, Tony Brown and Jackie Visnovske; sister, Mary Brown; and three grandchildren.

The funeral was Feb. 3 at Kutis Affton Chapel, with private interment at Park Lawn Cemetery.

Leslie Bruce

Leslie Stephan Bruce of Dardenne Prairie, Mo., died Feb. 25, 2007. She was 49.

Mrs. Bruce was an office manager for a church. She was born May 30, 1957, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Mrs. Bruce is survived by her husband, Joe J. Bruce; mother, Delores (Jim) Gee of Franklin, Ind.; father, Carl (Jan) Stephan of Ballwin; daughter, Nikki Bruce; son, Stephan (Missy Goodwin) Bruce; sisters, Lori (Tim) Thomas, Lisa (David) Shapleigh of Wildwood and Lisa (Rob) Burris; parents-in-law, Paul and Sue Bruce of Ballwin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul Jr. and Kerry Bruce; and other relatives.

Edgar Busch

Edgar H. Busch of south St. Louis County, Mo., died March 3, 2007. He was 94.

Mr. Busch was a sales representative.

Mr. Busch was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Busch; and son, James Donald (Jacquelyn) Busch.

He is survived by his daughter, Norma Jean (Robert) Schallert of Chesterfield; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives.

Carole Linda (Cain) Carbone died Feb. 25, 2007, in Kaiser, Mo. She was 57.

Mrs. Carbone was born March 22, 1949, in St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. Carbone is survived by her husband, Roger Carbone; sons, Brian (Brenda) Carbone, Scott (Tabatha) Carbone and Daniel (Vonda Kay) Carbone; daughter, Jamie (Willie) Sims; and 10 grandchildren.

Marie Crigler

Marie (Thomas) Crigler of Ballwin, Mo., died Feb. 12, 2007, in Chesterfield, Mo. She was 88.

Ms. Crigler was an office manager for a law firm. She was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Bonne Terre, Mo.

Ms. Crigler is survived by her sister, Florece Nelms; nephew, James (Linda) Denny; and great-nieces, Angela and Lisa.

Howard Dependahl

~ Howard Dependahl of Fenton, Mo., died March 1, 2007. He was 90.

Mr. Dependahl owned and operated a carpentry business. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post #208. He was born Jan. 22, 1917, in Manchester, Mo.

Mr. Dependahl is survived by his wife, Bertha (Hein) Dependahl; daughter, Shirley (Ted) Plevyak; and three grandchildren.

James Flynn Sr.

James Edward "Jim" Flynn Sr. of Pacific, Mo., died Feb. 19, 2007, in St. Louis, Mo. He was 67.

Mr. Flynn owned and operated Eureka Asphalt Co. and Eureka Trucking. He was born March 12, 1939, in Portageville, Mo.

Mr. Flynn is survived by his wife, Sandy (Sumners) Flynn; mother, Mae (Bawcum) Flynn-Brown; sons, Justin, Nathan, James (Shelia) Flynn Jr., Tommy and Troy Flynn; daughters, Erica Flynn, Tammy Ortwein, Yvonne (Ronnie) Maxwell and Annette (James) Wideman; stepdaughters, Tina Bradshaw and Sandra Barton; stepson, David Bryant; brothers, Ben, Jack, Jerry and Danny Flynn; 14 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynnette D. Flynn; sister, Johnnie Mae Waldman; and brother, William J. Flynn.

Arthur Gipson

Arthur E. Gipson of Gray Summit, Mo., died March 5, 2007. He was 77.

Mr. Gipson was born Aug. 10, 1929, in Sacramento, Ky.

Mr. Gipson is survived by his wife, Nancy (Felden) Gipson; sons, Terry (Rhonda) Gipson, Tony (Signa) Gipson and Gordon (Holly) Boyd; sisters, Bertha (Cliff) Lundy, Mary Edith (Jerry) Johnson and Artie Midkiff; and four grandchildren.

Mr. Harrawood is survived by his son, Kevin (Patti) Harrawood; daughters, Beth Carlino Harrawood, Lisa Harrawood and Patti (Tony) Collett; seven grandchildren; longtime friend and companion, Maureen Morris; and other relatives.

Mrs. Hedrick is survived by her husband, Warren T. Hedrick; sons, Michael, Patrick and Timothy Hedrick; daughters, Deborah Rockwell, Theresa Wilson and Melissa Hedrick; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Hedrick and daughter, Tamara Hedrick.

Lester Higginbotham

~ Lester J. Higginbotham of Town and Country, Mo., died Feb. 26, 2007. He was 81.

Mr. Higginbotham was a printer for Washington University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 to 1945. He was born Nov. 29, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Higginbotham is survived by his wife, Gloria (Link) Higginbotham; sons, Robert and Gregory Higginbotham; two grandchildren; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Higginbotham.

Mr. MacKenzie worked for Wagner Electric Co. He was born April 23, 1908, in Rothesay, Scotland.

Mr. MacKenzie is survived by his daughter, Gail Herbert of west St. Louis County.

Robert Maessen III

Robert L. "Bobby" Maessen III of Wildwood, Mo., died Feb. 25, 2007, in Seward, Neb. He was 23.

Mr. Maessen was a 2006 graduate of Concordia University in Seward, Neb., and a 2002 graduate of Lafayette High School. He was born Aug. 21, 1983, in St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Maessen is survived by his parents, Robert L. Maessen Jr. and Cynthia (Hoenig) Maessen of Wildwood; sisters, Elizabeth R. (Jeremy) Bader and Jacquelyn I. Maessen; and other relatives.

Mr. Major was preceded in death by his wife, O'Rita M. Major.

He is survived by his sons, Les (Jody) Major and Bruce (Jennifer) Major; daughter, Evalee (Terry) Rogge; and other relatives.

Valeria Meyer

~ Valeria "Val" Annette (Graf) Meyer of Chesterfield, Mo., died March 3, 2007. She was 89.

Mrs. Meyer was a legal and medical secretary. She was honored for her service during World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps. She was a member of American Legion Post 404. She was born in St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. Meyer was preceded in death by her husband, David Benedict Meyer.

She is survived by her children, Madeleine Meyer Tatum, Dennis (Dale) Meyer, Bill (Susan) Meyer, Mary Rita Meyer (Jack) Albrecht and Anita Meyer; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and her extended family.

She was preceded in death by her brothers; aunts; uncle; cousins; and in-laws.

Audrey Middendorf

Audrey Middendorf of St. Louis, Mo., died March 2, 2007. She was 86.

Mrs. Middendorf was a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born March 24, 1920, in Buford, Mo.

Mrs. Middendorf was preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Middendorf; and grandson, Daniel James Roth.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Ann Parsons, Marleen Marie Kretschmann and Joan Marie Roth; sons, George Henry Middendorf III and Robert James Middendorf, both of Ballwin; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Floyd M. Wildhaber.

George Ostroot Jr.

~ George Ostroot Jr. of Glendale, Mo., died Feb. 26, 2007. He was 86.

Mr. Ostroot was a mechanical engineer with Monsanto. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany.

Mr. Ostroot was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor (Smithers) Ostroot.

Dorman Steelman

~ Dorman Lloyd Steelman died March 1, 2007, in Salem, Mo. He was 81.

Mr. Steelman was an attorney, a state representative from Dent County, the minority floor leader in the Missouri House of Representatives from 1960 to 1964 and the state chairman for the Missouri Republican Party from 1966 to 1968. He was appointed a circuit court judge for Missouri Judicial Circuit 42, where he served from 1976 to 1994.

Mr. Steelman served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was born Feb. 17, 1926, in Cedar Grove, Mo.

Mr. Steelman is survived by his wife, Nelle L. "Maxine" (Livesay) Steelman; sons, David Lloyd (Sarah) Steelman and Donald Alan (Linda) Steelman; daughter, Deborah Lynn (Tom) Macon; six grandchildren; siblings, Dorella Beckett, Glenna Steelman, Thorlene Lough, Larry Steelman, Loretta Dewitt, Deloris Petty of Town and Country and Helen Elmer.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gurnell and Stanley Steelman.
