An O'Fallon man has been charged with one count of attempted sexual abuse after allegedly trying to grope a woman in an exercise room.
Lincoln Wayne Pringle, 37, is free on $10,000 bond after O'Fallon police arrested him Feb. 11. He was charged Feb. 12 with a Class D felony punishable by up to four years in prison, one year in the St. Charles County jail, or a $5,000 fine.
Pringle lives in an apartment building at 1222 Savannah Circle in O'Fallon. St. Charles County Prosecutor Jack Banas said Pringle on Feb. 11 allegedly accosted a woman who lives in the building while she was in the exercise room. He allegedly lifted her shirt and tried to grab her breast, Banas said. She prevented him from grabbing her, then called police, Banas said.
No other incidents involving Pringle have been reported to the prosecutor's office, Banas said. "If he has had inappropriate contact with someone, they need to contact law enforcement agency where it occurred," Banas said.
Pringle is scheduled for a disposition hearing March 16 before Judge Terry Cundiff in St. Charles County Circuit Court, Division 6.
