A Northmoor man has been charged with domestic assault after Warrenton police were called Christmas Eve to the 190-mile marker of Interstate 70 to find a woman lying on the shoulder with numerous stab wounds.

Joseph Hanault of Northmoor, which is located north of Kansas City, was charged with first-degree domestic assault and as of Monday was being held in the Warren County jail in lieu of $250,000 cash only bond.

Warrenton Police Chief Greg Houdyshell said officers were called at 6 p.m. Dec. 24 and when they arrived found a 33-year-old woman lying on the side of I-70 with numerous stab wounds. She was taken to SSM St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles for treatment of what were described as life-threatening wounds.

Hanault, who was called the victim's boyfriend, was found at the scene and arrested. He allegedly made a statement implicating himself in the stabbing, according to police.
