Undergraduate students at Lindenwood University will pay a 3.8 percent increase for room, board, tuition and fees starting with the 2012 fall semester.

Full-time undergraduate resident students will pay $22,180 per year, up from the current $21,360.

Students in Lindenwood's accelerated evening program, LCIE, will see a 4.3 percent tuition increase. Starting in the summer 2012 quarter, a nine-hour cluster of undergraduate courses will cost $3,060 per quarter. A nine-hour cluster of graduate courses will cost $3,708.

The Lindenwood Board of Directors approved the increases Feb. 10.

"The costs of everything we do, from personnel to materials, have increased. We also have construction costs," said Lindenwood spokesman Chris Duggan.

In August, Lindenwood opened the $20 million, 119,000-square-foot Evans Commons student center, which includes a food court, basketball gym, workout areas and other amenities.

Lindenwood is building a $9 million, 44,000-square-foot student-athlete center within Hunter Stadium. The annex, expected to be completed in late fall, will house an academic success center, new locker rooms for stadium sports, athletic training facilities and coaches' offices. The third flood will include an event room that will open up to the stadium for guests and fans.

Student fees for communication and health and activity will not be raised in the fall, Duggan said. Parking on campus will remain $2 per year for faculty, staff and students.

"We try carefully to make sure our tuition increases are as small as they can be," Duggan said.
