The O'Fallon Police Department showed off its newest K-9 officers Thursday during the City Council meeting.

Police Chief Roy Joachimstaler, center, introduced officer Thomas Thompson, left, with K-9 Ares; and officer Daniel DeSpain with K-9 Titan.

The two German shepherds, both 2 years old, are already being used on patrol. They received training in tracking, suspect search and apprehension and basic patrol, and are certified in narcotic detection.

The department now has three K-9 units, including an arson dog.
