A St. Charles County man is in custody and another is sought by police in connection with the burglary Monday of a home in St. Charles.

St. Charles County prosecutors issued warrants Monday on charges of first-degree robbery for Mychael W. Hutsell Sr., of the 1100 block of Caulks Hill Road, and Christian M. King, of the 2700 block of Linden Place.

As of Wednesday morning, King was in custody in the county jail. Hutsell was not in police custody.

According to St. Charles police, Hutsell and King entered the home in the first block of Waterfront Grove in the early hours as the homeowner slept. Police said a laptop, purse and its contents were taken from a counter top. Police believe King and Hutsell might be involved in similar burglaries in St. Charles and surrounding communities.

There has been a recent trend of burglaries in occupied homes, according to police. Police urge residents to keep doors and windows locked, even when they are at home, and to make sure their garage doors are closed and vehicles are secure, whether parked inside or outside.

Anyone with additional information regarding this or similar incidents is asked to contact the St. Charles Police Department at 636-949-3300 or can do so anonymously at 636-949-3333.
