Thank you, Steve Pokin, for "pokin" fun at the possible frivolous case against (St. Charles County elections director) Rich Chrismer in your Jan. 4 column. The irony of which you wrote is peculiar.

I am a 48-year-young lady who volunteered my time in one of Mr. Chrismer's campaigns. I've also spent a little time with him and his wife.

Mr. Chrismer does have such a commitment to integrity and a very humble spirit. I am inspired by his dedication to truth, justice, work ethic and especially his joy. He and his wife also have a beautifully long marriage, of which I admire greatly.

I do not believe Mr. Chrismer would mar his integrity and what he stands for to get a visual thrill or the like.

Mr. Chrismer's integrity speaks for itself. He volunteered for three tours of duty in Vietnam and received numerous decorations for his service, including special recognition for valor. Mr. Chrismer told me he volunteered because he wanted the Vietnamese to be free. (Sorry to say, I would probably not have been so noble). Rich has fought for life and liberty abroad as well as at home.

Mr. Chrismer has had many "blows" in his life, but he has always come out the better. I believe this will be the same. Truth wins in the end.

This lawsuit may just work in his favor ... to honor him rather than to defame him. When person upon person, especially those in our local government, get on the witness stand and talk of Rich's integrity, dedication to truth, justice and righteousness, Mr. Chrismer may realize "yes, it is a wonderful life!"

Truth wins in the end.
