Do more for seniors

This is to (St. Charles Mayor) Sally Faith, who thinks Lindenwood should get all the perks they're supposed to get. I think they ought to look out for the senior citizens more, because Lindenwood pays no taxes and the seniors can't get any breaks. I thought she was going to be better than what we had. Apparently she's not. She can remember that when she runs for office again.

Uplifting music

Scott Beck, I agree with you. I could listen to Christmas music all year along, it's uplifting. After attending the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert, I've come to realize that sometimes listening to that kind of music is almost a religious experience. Bless you and everyone at the Journal, and a merry Christmas and happy new year.

Vote them out

I spent three and a half hours down at the county office trying to get my personal property taxes straightened out. It's time for (County Collector) Michelle McBride, (County Assessor) Scott Shipman and (County Executive Steve) Ehlmann to be voted out. Anybody would be better than those three. My dog could do a better job.

Too much whining

What is with all the whining about delayed delivery of tax bills? If you are planning to have enough money in your account, base your estimate on your 2010 bill. If you want to pay early, call the collector or use the sccmo.org website to find your bill. But if you're looking for sympathy, don't whine to those of us who used our heads to get our taxes paid on time.

Act of kindness

My mother and brother and I were on Main Street in St. Charles Dec. 9, and we had dinner and were walking back to the car. We had had to park quite a ways away. I tried to get her closer and there were no parking spaces available. On our way back to the car she fell over a curb. There was some construction going on on the sidewalk where we had to walk. My brother had her arm, but she had gone down. Two women helped us get her back up and were willing to wait with her while I went to get the car and brought it up to her, but she didn't want to do that. That's why she was walking in the first place. Everything turned out all right and we're grateful for that. We thanked the women, but I wanted to thank them again. It was a very nice act of kindness.

Left out 'Merry Christmas'

I'm a subscriber to the Journal and on the front page (Dec. 21) I noticed at the top it says "Happy Holidays." I was a little concerned why "Merry Christmas" was left out. You could have included both. You could have had "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays" or "Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas." I think we should have had that on our Journal.

Hanukkah and Christmas

This is to the Journal staff regarding the Wednesday, Dec. 21 newspaper. Your heading says, "Happy Holidays." Really, it's OK to wish us happy Hanukkah and merry Christmas.
