Closed on Sundays

I live in Wentzville, and I am so glad to see the new Chick-fil-A is standing by (the company's) conviction of staying closed on Sundays. Even with this economy, it's good to see that.

Tax went up

I went to pay my personal property tax. And my tax doubled from two years ago. It's $80 higher than in 2007 when I had the same vehicle. I'm paying $80 more than I paid when the car was new. I'd like to know how they figure out this personal property tax and why the value of my vehicle is decreasing while they're raising the tax on it.

Alcohol ruins people

I have a comment regarding "Alcohol causes misery" in the Jan. 18 Sound Off section. I agree alcohol ruins people. It ruins families, children, it ruins everybody, and it should be stopped. It's not that I'm against drinking, I'm against alcoholism.

Class worth taking

I read in the Journal that there is an emergency preparedness class offered by Mid America Teen CERT on March 8 at St. Charles Community College. I highly recommend the class. The training I took in Wentzville was not nearly as detailed as it could have been, and the class that's going to be at the college is more detailed. It deals with special needs victims, more in-depth medical operations and search and rescue. I suggest teens and adults alike take it.
