I got an email today from wimdu.com, a travel rental site that had some fascinating, exotic places to stay. Here are just a few of them.
Giraffe Manor - Nairobi. $460/night: Giraffe Manor is one of Nairobi’s most iconic historical buildings dating back to the 1930s and is reminiscent of the early days of Europeans in East Africa. A herd of eight resident Rothschild giraffes tend to visit the Manor in the mornings and evenings to greet guests and sniff out some snacks before venturing out into their sanctuary of 140 acres. For more info go here.
Sleep in a (Construction) Crane - Netherlands. $475/ night: The Harlingen Harbour Crane is a Figee level luffing crane built in 1967. The crane was used until 1996 to unload timber freight from Russia and Scandinavia, now a hotel room sits in the cabin, some 17 metres above the pier. Find out more here.
· Treehouse - France. $188/night (sleeps 5): Nestled between several chestnut trees, this tree house is 5 feet above the ground from which you can enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding hills from your terrace. A dry toilet and Mongolian sink offer the necessary comfort. For light, candles. For breakfast, a basket of goodies. Find out more info here.
