Aegion Corp. swung to a profit in the third quarter as last year's realignment and restructuring boosted the bottom line.

The Chesterfield-based pipe repair firm reported net income of $14.8 million, or 40 cents per share, compared with a loss of $17.1 million, or 45 cents per share, a year earlier.

Excluding items, adjusted earnings were 44 cents a share, more than the 41 cents that analysts, on average, were expecting, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.

Quarterly revenue rose 2 percent $356.6 million.
