Ameren Corp. is moving the headquarters of its wholesale generating and energy marketing subsidiary, Ameren Energy Resources, to Illinois where it does business.
About 130 of the business unit's 950 employees are being relocated to new offices at 1500 Eastport Plaza in Collinsville, company spokesman Brian Bretsch said.
The move affects Ameren Energy Resources' headquarters staff and Ameren Energy marketing employees, he said. Some of the subsidiary's employees are already based in Illinois and others will remain in St. Louis.
Steven R. Sullivan, president of Ameren Energy Resources, said the new headquarters location would "better reflect our core business and operating geography."
Ameren Energy Resources, originally formed in 2000 following the passage of a law to deregulate electric markets in Illinois, was previously based in offices on the other side of 18th Street from the parent company's Chouteau Avenue headquarters. Ameren Corp. will continue to use the building, Bretsch said.
Ameren Energy Resources owns Ameren Energy Generating Co., which owns and operates coal and natural-gas fueled power plants, and Ameren Energy Marketing, which sells and trades power.
