Bud Light has overtaken Purina as Missouri's most valuable brand, according to Brand Finance, a valuation and strategy consultancy.
The Anheuser-Busch InBev-owned beer brand has an estimated value of $6.6 billion, up 34 percent in the past year, the firm estimates in its annual ranking.
The Purina brand, in the No. 2 spot among Missouri-based brands, is worth $5.9 billion.
Bud Light benefited from recent advertising campaigns, including one featuring comedians Seth Rogan and Amy Schumer, Brand Finance said.
A-B's venerable Budweiser brand, which clocked in at No. 3 among Missouri brands, also saw a significant jump in value, rising 30 percent to $5.9 billion.
Missouri has 12 brands in the 500-brand list. In addition to Bud Light, Purina and Budweiser, they are: Enterprise, worth $5.3 billion; Express Scripts, $4.01 billion; Emerson, $3.8 billion; Cerner, $3.4 billion; O'Reilly Auto Parts, $3.2 billion; Centene, $2.7 billion; Panera Bread, $1.9 billion; Busch, $1.3 billion; and Monsanto, $1.3 billion.
Panera Bread, which does business locally as St. Louis Bread Co., saw its brand value rise 32 percent. It benefited from consumers increasingly turning to restaurants seen as offering healthier options, Brand Finance said.
The most valuable brand on the 2017 list is Google, worth $109.5 billion — most than twice the value of the 12 top Missouri brands combined.
