ST. LOUIS — The downtown St. Louis Bread Co. location is closing soon, the company confirmed Friday.
Panera Bread, which owns the restaurant brand, said in a statement that its lease had expired at the downtown location. The company did not provide further information on why it decided against renewing the lease.
The restaurant will close on Tuesday. It is located at 116 North Sixth Street, across the street from the One Metropolitan Square building.
The company is encouraging customers to go to its Soulard location, at 2018 South Seventh Street.
Panera is working to relocate all associates and managers to other cafes in the area, the company said in a statement.
A spokesman for the St. Louis City Treasurer's Office said that parking for delivery vehicles should not have been an obstacle for the restaurant, as parking enforcement officers are told not to bother delivery vehicles.
