Nationwide indoor cycling chain CycleBar is opening its first Missouri location next month in Chesterfield, with plans for four additional local studios.
The first local CycleBar will open March 27 at 1657 Clarkson Road in Chesterfield.
Founded in 2004, Cincinnati-based CycleBar began franchising two years ago and has since added dozens of studios in Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta and other markets. The 70-studio chain has 278 new locations in the pipeline nationwide, with about 100 opening this year, said Jordin Cooper, CycleBar director of marketing.
Each studio occupies about 3,000 square feet of space with room for 50 stationary bikes, and participants can choose classes with varying levels of intensity. Most classes dim the lights and turn up the music loud.
Those seeking high-energy workouts can select the “classic” class or “performance,” which features group challenges and rider competitions. A third option, “connect,” is on the opposite end of the energy spectrum, and video monitors are turned off for a more peaceful ride.
CycleBar has grown a following of individuals looking for a change from a typical gym, as well as companies and groups that rent the facility for private events such as team-building activities, Cooper said. Monthly memberships are available and prices per class range from about $18 to $22, although the chain will be offering grand opening free rides and discounts in the coming weeks.
CycleBar offers amenities including free water bottles and a post-workout email with stats from the ride, Busker said. “The brand is really about the experience,” he said. “It’s getting a great workout, going to a rock concert and a trip to the spa.”
Another location at 11623 Olive Boulevard in Creve Coeur, owned by franchisee Paul Schnapp, also will open in the first half of 2017. Schnapp is opening three CycleBar studios locally, Cooper said.
