SUNSET HILLS • A four-story hotel proposed for Lindbergh Boulevard just south of Watson Road will cater to business travelers, its owner told the Board of Aldermen here Tuesday night.

BMGR SSHD has proposed the construction of a Comfort Inn with 64 rooms on the 4.3-acre site. Rates would range from $100 to $175 per night.

A portion of the Days Inn and another building on the property would be torn down, but the Days Inn would remain for at least three years, said owner S.R. Sheevam.

The hotels together would have 130 rooms, down from the current 139 units.

Alderman Richard Gau expressed concern about the amount of parking being adequate and recommended additional striping or arrows to route traffic.

Sheevam stated that he has a cross access agreement with nearby Helen Fitzgerald’s restaurant for 25 parking spaces.

Ilir Polovina, whose property is behind the hotel, is concerned about the loss of privacy, stating he would be able to see guests on their balconies.

The board is expected to take a final vote on the plan at its next regular meeting.

Also Tuesday, the Board unanimously approved a conditional use permit for the surgery center at 4590 South Lindbergh Boulevard.

Dr. Kurt Eichholz, a neurological surgeon, plans to build a 7100-square-foot ambulatory surgery center on the 1.8-acre site. There is already an office building, but surgeries must be performed at nearby hospitals. The new surgery center, with two operating rooms and a procedure room, would be more convenient for patients, he said.
