SLCC artistic director Philip Barnes and assistant conductor Andy Jensen celebrate the season with the many carols written expressly for the chorus over the past three decades. The Christmas “Commissioned” concert takes place at the Third Baptist Church in Grand Center. ‘Muny Holiday Magic’

In the spirit of the season, the Muny will present a free, four-day video series featuring prerecorded performances by artists from St. Louis and across the country. “Muny Holiday Magic” follows the Muny’s popular “Summer Variety Hour Live!” The shows include: “Underneath the Tree” (Dec. 21), featuring the Muny Kids and Teens; “The Chanukah Song” (Dec. 22), featuring the Muny Kids and Teens; “Holiday Medley” (Dec. 23) with Jason Gotay, Mamie Parris, Nasia Thomas and performers from St. Louis and across the country; and “The Night Before Christmas” (Dec. 24) read by Ken Page. A compilation of all four shows will be streamed on Christmas Day. “Muny Holiday Magic” will be presented on the Muny’s social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. Lauded by BBC Music Magazine as one of the top 20 live Christmas events in North America, the Bach Society’s annual Christmas Candlelight Concert reinvents itself this year as a virtual event. The always-popular show includes both previously recorded content and new footage created for this year’s concert. VIP tickets include perks such as a preconcert show hosted by Maestro Sparger that includes a performance by critically acclaimed soprano Mary Wilson. Each Monday and Thursday in December, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will add to its current digital content a collection of holiday video performances, “Songs of the Holidays.” Performances include secular tunes and sacred music from a variety of backgrounds.
