Obviously, nobody was dreaming of a pandemic Christmas, and some favorite annual events, such as the Belleville Santa Parade and the South Grand Cocoa Crawl and Grinchmas, have been canceled this year. But other events are carrying on, with some alterations: The downtown Thanksgiving Day parade goes virtual with a TV broadcast, gingerbread houses go socially distant in Augusta, and families can play outside in a gingerbread village and snowball carnival at the Magic House.
