In April 2016, Senn Bierwerks partners Dustin and Kristen Chalfant and James Hellmuth revealed plans to build their brewery at 7593 Olive Boulevard in University City.

Now, 14 months later, the Senn Bierwerks partners have announced that the project will not go forward at that site.

“It is with a heavy heart that we must share with you that Senn Bierwerks will not be opening at the corner of Olive and North & South,” the partners wrote in a Facebook post Thursday. “As this news cuts deep, we wanted to thank you all for your overwhelming support on this project."

Dustin Chalfant told Hip Hops on Friday that Senn and the property developer could not reach a deal.

“We got down to the final details, but we couldn't come to terms,” Chalfant said. “It's no bad blood. The deal just didn't work out.”

Though the partners are disappointed the University City location did not work out – “University City has been awesome,” Chalfant says – they are looking at new sites.

“We've already been walking through properties around town,” Chalfant says.

As for the University City site, Chalfant counts the past year as a learning experience.

"Property deals are hard," he says.
