Hale confirmed the news to Off the Menu Thursday but did not provide further details about the departure.
Hale does plan further restaurant work in the future.
“I haven't retired yet,” he said.
Meanwhile, Walden told Off the Menu Thursday that Bakers & Hale will remain essentially the same, name included.
“Rex is my mentor,” she said. “He still is.”
Walden said the restaurant's menu might grow to include a few dishes to meet the demands of its immediate community.
