Work is underway on the third location of Five Star Burgers at 11621 Olive Boulevard in Creve Coeur.
"We got into the space last week and did all our demo work," owner Stephen Gontram told the Post-Dispatch on Wednesday.
(St. Louis Magazine first sniffed out the Creve Coeur plans back in October.)
The 2,700-square-foot space occupies one subdivided portion of the former Creve Coeur Camera. Gontram said the heavily trafficked stretch by Interstate 270 was a prime attraction.
"We have so many people that work in the buildings right there," Gontram said. "We're expecting heavy lunch traffic just from (them)."
Gontram is aiming for a March opening.
The original St. Louis location of Five Star Burgers opened in 2012 in Clayton. The second location opened in late 2013 in Kirkwood. Gontram's father, Bob, founded the concept in New Mexico.
Will there be even more Five Star Burgers locations in St. Louis?
"I have areas in mind," Gontram said, though he believes the metro area can sustain a maximum of five locations.
