Hi-Pointe Drive-In, the Sugarfire Smoke House spinoff slinging burgers, sandwiches and milkshakes, opens its second location today (April 11) at 634 Washington Avenue downtown.
The new Hi-Pointe takes over the Mercantile Exchange storefront previously occupied by Porano Pasta, which closed last July.
Visitors to both the new downtown Hi-Pointe and the original location will find a few new items on the menu. Among them is the Arch D-Lux Burger, a double cheeseburger with bacon, ketchup, “special d-lux sauce,” lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle.
Per the press release announcing the downtown opening, the St. Louis Gateway Arch Park Foundation will receive $1 for each Arch D-Lux burger sold.
The downtown Hi-Pointe is open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday.
The original Hi-Pointe opened in January 2017 at 1033 McCausland Avenue in the city's Hi-Pointe neighborhood.
Off the Menu broke the news last October that Hi-Pointe was “99.9 percent” certain, as chef and co-owner Mike Johnson said at the time, to open in the Mercantile Exchange.
