How to sum up dining in St. Louis in 2015?
Comfort food continued its dominance. Barbecue. Fried chicken. Even a restaurant dedicated to ranch dressing. You’ll find two of those three cuisines represented on this year’s list of best new restaurants.
Traditional “fine” dining receded even further into the hazy past. One of this year’s best new restaurants, the brick-and-mortar version of an existing food truck, serves its food on paper plates.
More than anything, though, I’ll remember 2015 as the Year of Mike Randolph. The chef had already showcased his great talent at the Good Pie, Half & Half and the now-closed concepts Little Country Gentleman and MEDIAnoche. This year, he took his cooking to another level and opened 2015’s most exciting restaurant.
Then, six months later, he did it a second time.
Here are the best new restaurants that I reviewed in 2015.
