In the clubs: An Under Cover Weekend is at the Firebird

The Parlour

The Parlour (4534 Gravois Road) has its grand opening this weekend. On tap tonight at the bar and lounge is Dave AlanS and DJ Who. Music begins at 7 p.m., and the kitchen is open until 11 p.m. No cover. The Parlour, formerly the Wicked Lady Pub, will be open Wednesday-Sunday. By Kevin C. Johnson

The Loading Zone

The Loading Zone (16 South Euclid Avenue) was damaged by fire over the Labor Day weekend. The venue's weekly Showtune Tuesday has moved to Erney's 32 Degrees (4200 Manchester Avenue) until the Loading Zone reopens. Mark Erney owns both bars. By Gabe Hartwig


Funkin Right celebrates its first anniversary at 9 p.m. Saturday at Lola (500 North 14th Street). The event, the creation of Nappy DJ Needles, will feature the can't-miss return of DJ Rich Medina. $10. By Kevin C. Johnson

The Firebird

The annual Under Cover Weekend 5 is tonight and Saturday at the Firebird (2706 Olive Street), where St. Louis bands perform entire sets of other bands' songs. Tonight's lineup: Via Dove as AC/DC, Union Tree Review as Marvin Gaye, Bo and the Locomotive as Cake, Dots Not Feathers as Stevie Wonder and Tight Pants Syndrome vs. Paper Dolls as Electric Light Orchestra. Saturday: Troubadour Dali as Sonic Youth, the Breaks as the Strokes, False Moves as Interpol, the Orbz as Stone Temple Pilots and Jump Starts as the Violent Femmes. 8:30 p.m. both nights. $10.
