Prince tributes set for 2720 Cherokee, Troy's Jazz Gallery, Rustic Goat, Blank Space, Vintage Vinyl

A Prince vigil will take place Friday night at 2720 Cherokee Street by Nappy DJ Needles; Needles has an annual Prince tribute event at Blank Space (the next one is scheduled for June 11).

Candles will be lighted and dancing will be encouraged.

The event starts at 10 p.m. Friday; cover is $5.

Admission is free to those attending the Spankalicious event at 2720 Cherokee.

The DJ lineup is Mark Lewis and Larry Tucker at 10 p.m., Needles at 10:45 p.m., Alexis Tucci and Nowels at 11:45 p.m. and Joe Luckey at 12:20 a.m.

-- A Lola reunion scheduled for Saturday night at Troy's Jazz Gallery is now a Prince tribute event as well titled "Somethin' Purple." DJ Reminise will spin. Admission is $5 and doors are at 9 p.m.

-- Chalk Riot! and Turntable Orchestra Tribute to Prince with Nappy DJ Needles, DJ Alejan, DJ Wiz, 1 p.m. Sunday (Chalk Riot!) and 4 p.m. Sunday (Turntable Orchestra Tribute), Vintage Vinyl

-- The Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville will show the 1984 movie "Purple Rain" at 7 p.m. Friday.

Admission is $4 and will be available at noon Friday. Tickets are cash and checks only; there are no credit card sales for tickets, though credit cards are accepted for concessions.
