The Dirty Muggs nails Casino Queen showcase for $10,000 prize

St. Louis band the Dirty Muggs was the winner Thursday night at the SEVENS Showcase event at the Casino Queen in East St. Louis.

Twenty-four bands started out in the contest, vying for a $10,000 prize and a $10,000 performance contract at the Casino Queen.

The finalists were the Dirty Muggs, Aunyae Heart and the Black Rose Band and Retro Boogie.

Judges were Kenya Vaughn of the St. Louis American, Lee Nolting of COCOdance, and yours truly, who were unanimously impressed with the Dirty Muggs' electrifying set.

“We regularly have wonderful live performances by many talented local bands and musicians and we look forward to having the Dirty Muggs perform at SEVENS on a frequent basis,” said Jeff Watson, general manager of the Casino Queen. “The band is a great crowd pleaser and provides just one more reason for patrons to visit SEVENS.”
