Growing up in St. Louis meant that those who appeared on your television screen became part of the family, the butt of jokes, or simply a point of hometown pride. Some of the commercials weren't meant to be all that goofy, and some were so in-your-face-goofy that you better look because they didn’t dress like cavemen or put on roller skates or straddle the Arch for nothing, you hear? Whether they were pitching Fords or furniture or Frigidaires, whether they were human or canine or fowl, you won’t forget these local hawkers. Compiled by Valerie Schremp Hahn
