The St. Louis Fire Department's Rescue Squad 1C rescued a doberman pinscher named Diablo from the lake in O'Fallon Park Sunday afternoon. Diablo's owner, Jason Newsome, from St. Louis, said that Diablo ran onto the ice after a goose and then fell through the ice. The dog was in the ice for about 25 minutes. "He was almost done," said firefighter Demetris Alfred. He and firefighter Stan Baynes went into the water to get the dog. "He kept rolling over and submerging," said Baynes. A grateful Newsome warmed the dog up and took him to a veterinarian.
