St. Louis may see the passing of a royally connected racer.
Pippa Middleton, the sister of Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, and her brother, James Middleton, are part of an eight-member cycling team taking part in the 2014 Race Across America.
Middleton's team is raising money for the British Heart Foundation, of which she is an ambassador, and the Michael Matthews Foundation, a children's charity.
According to race timetables, teams are expected to cross the Mississippi River at Alton early Wednesday morning (3:30 to 4 a.m.). The 3,000-mile race began Saturday and will end in Annapolis, Md.
Whether Middleton will be pedaling as her team crosses the river is not known. The race website explains that teams run in a relay format, requiring a team to have one racer on the road at all times. Shifts can be changed at any time.
