After almost four years at the helm, St. Patrick Center chief executive officer Tom Etling will leave at the end of the year to work in private industry.

"Tom has given much in his nearly four years to build on St. Patrick Center's tradition and move the agency to a stronger, more sustainable future,” said Theresa Ruzicka, president of Catholic Charities, which oversees the center.

Joe Ambrose, St. Patrick's board president said a search committee has been formed to find a replacement.

Etling told P-D business reporter Lisa Brown that he is becoming a partner in Dovetail a marketing and communications firm that is adding a corporate social responsibility practice.

Just last week, Etling presided over the opening of McMurphy’s Cafe in downtown St. Louis, a restaurant designed to train homeless and mentally ill people for employment in food service. The cafe is located inside the center, at 800 North Tucker Boulevard.

St. Patrick Center provides housing, employment and health-care to about 8,000 people each year in a 15-county region.
