Participants collected free dreidels, heard stories, and got candles and chocolate gelt (or coins), on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at the area's 25th Annual Hanukkah Celebration at Barnes & Noble in the Schnucks Ladue Crossing shopping center. Children, mostly from H.F. Epstein Hebrew Academy in Olivette, and parents were also treated to Hanukkah stories and arts and crafts. Hanukkah, which begins at sundown Dec. 2, is an eight-day celebration of the Festival of Lights commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple.
