Photos: Restaurant workers protest new county restrictions

Nearly 100 restaurant workers from the St. Louis region gathered outside the St. Louis County government building on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2020 to protest County Executive Sam Page's new restrictions closing indoor seating for restaurants.

Across the street from the protesters, Carla Ounanian, Pasta Plus owner, cheered from the door of her business. "I want diners to come back," she said. "We [restaurants] aren't the problem."

Workers form Sybergs, IHOP, Kuna Foodservice, Una Vida and others showed up to show their support for the restaurant industry.

"We are here for our employees" said Kirk Syberg, Syberg's owner. "We realize COVID is bad, but we want to let Sam Page know we think it is unfair what he is doing to restaurants."

The protest lasted about 45 minutes and Syberg closed it out by thanking everyone for showing up and saying it was time to get back to work.
